Bangkok Hospital Rayong Background

Rayong is advantageous in several aspects when comparing with the other provinces in Thailand. The area of the province consists of both plain and plateau. There are not only some crucial economic plants; for instance, rubber tree, durian, rambutan, mangosteen, pineapple, and mango; but also several mineral resources; for instance, silica sand mineral and architectural stone or industrial mineral. The beach connecting to the Gulf of Thailand is 100 kilometers long. One of the major agricultures is sea shrimp farm. The climate is tropical wet and dry with sea-wind opening the whole year round. The weather in general is slightly warm, not so hot, and cool nearby the beach. Since 1979 (Thai calendar year 2524), the government had performed in accordance with the East Coast Area Development Project and selected Rayong to be a centre of civilization, educational standard service and technology research. Moreover, East Coast was set to be export gateway for northeastern provinces. The government completely prepared basic utility system and assigned Mabtapud in Ampur Muang, Rayong to be Industrial Estate, providing with deep sea port to accommodate sea transportation. Rayong is the location of natural gas separation, petrochemical industry, and chemical fertilizer industry. For the above mention reasons, Rayong has high potential for industrial investment and it is more advantageous than any other Bangkok surrounding provinces and among provinces that are about 200 kilometers away from Bangkok. Hence, this impact Rayong to be rapidly growing in industrial development.

The social and economic situation change impacted needs in health care that was convenient, rapid and standard as people in Bangkok was getting.

The co-investors under the name “Ruam Paat Company – Rayong” had an agreement to set up a hospital name “Bangkok Hospital – Rayong” which was an affiliation of Bangkok Hospital; being famous and reliable for medical care and service in Bangkok and being the extension in some other area; to facilitate people in Rayong and nearby on excellent health and qualitative service. At the beginning in 2003 (Thai 2546), it was serviced under the name of Bangkok-Rayong clinic, at Star intersection on Sukhumvit Road, for first aid and being coordinator in sending patient for specialized treatment or in turn to Bangkok Hospital – Pattaya. While the Bangkok-Rayong clinic is servicing, Ruam Paat Company - Rayong got a chance to take over the real estate and fixed assets of Bumrungrad Hospital – Rayong from Asia Bank (public) Company Limited on April 18, 2003 and then changed the name and registered under the name “Bangkok Hospital – Rayong” in May, 2003. The setting up process started from surveying; building improvement; interior design; medical equipment and facility providing; and personnel recruitment of high qualification staffs. To provide the readiness and promptness, all staffs have to attend the orientation to have utmost potential in looking after the patients and servicing the medical treatment.

And there came the expecting moment that honorable Professor Doctor Aroon Paosawat presided over the official opening ceremony of “Bangkok Hospital – Rayong” on September 15, 2003. The honorable guests, including the management team from affiliated hospitals, encouraged all management people and staffs in commencing Bangkok Hospital – Rayong
